How Secret DUO laser resurfacing treatments can transform your skin

The introduction of the Secret DUO device into Lumea Aesthetics has allowed us to expand our treatment offerings, providing a solution to some of the most common skin concerns, on a wider range of skin types.

Secret DUO’s glass laser is a non-invasive treatment option, breathing life into tired, dull or damaged skin. Laser resurfacing treatments using 1540nm erbium glass laser technology penetrate through the layers of the skin to cause microdamage. This microdamage prompts a natural healing response from the skin, encouraging the production of new collagen and elastin. The healed result of laser resurfacing treatments is fresh, new skin with a smoother texture.

What is the Downtime for laser resurfacing?

Previous laser resurfacing treatment options would require approximately two weeks of downtime, including the treatment of open wounds, to see results. The non-ablative nature of laser resurfacing treatments with Secret DUO allows for little to no downtime as the laser technology only targets the deeper layers, preserving the superficial layer of the dermis.

Is laser resurfacing suitable for all skin types?

The gentle, non-ablative nature of our laser resurfacing treatments makes it a fantastic treatment option for a wider range of skin types and tones. With previous technologies, those with olive and darker skin tones were often not suitable for treatment due to the heightened risk of side effects including post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). By working on the deeper layers of the dermis, instead of ablating the skin’s surface, this risk is eliminated.

How long will it take to see results?

Thanks to the low downtime experienced with laser resurfacing treatments, you can see results faster. Most patients see some results after one or two days as plumper, smoother skin. Full results can take a few weeks to be seen, as the skin heals and new collagen and elastin is produced.
