Fat Dissolving Injections

An effective treatment for both men and women.

Natural ageing, genetics and weight fluctuations can all influence stubborn fat deposits on the body.

This treatment can help reduce the appearance of fat pockets on the body, most commonly on the chin and back. Submental fat, colloquially known as a ‘double chin’, is the fat that lies under the jawline and chin. Weight loss may not always reduce fat deposition in this area as it’s often genetically determined, and so can be visible despite a healthy body weight. This same treatment is also used to combat what can be referred to as ‘bra bulge’. Injections in these areas permanently dissolve fat cells, helping achieve your unique aesthetic goals.

Fat Dissolving Injections

Are ‘fat dissolving’ injections right for me?

‘Fat dissolving’ injections contain an acid which is found naturally in the body, similar to the one released by the gallbladder that helps dissolve fatty foods.

HOW DO FAT DISSOLVING INJECTIONS WORK?

The product is injected into the fat in and around the targeted area and permanently destroys the fat cells by a process known as adipocytolysis. Once the fat cells have been destroyed they cannot store fat again.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

We recommend at least two treatments in order to see results, with some patients needing up to three treatments to see optimal results. The number of treatments that you need depends largely on the amount of fullness that you have under the chin or targeted area. Treatments are usually placed around four to six weeks apart.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

After reaching your desired result, the effects are permanent as the fat cells are completely destroyed and cannot hold fatty tissue again.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THIS TREATMENT?

There are a number of conditions where clients cannot be treated, including if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin condition or if tissue in the bra area is breast tissue rather than fat. Excessive loose skin under the chin can also render the treatment not as effective.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

This will depend on the size of the treatment performed. In most cases, there is a significant degree of swelling that lasts for a week, as well as tenderness of the treated area. In some cases, hard lumps form, and these can take some time to reduce in size. Bruising is also a common side-effect and can last up to two weeks.

What to expect

Clients will require an in-depth consultation in person with our experienced team to ensure they are eligible for treatment. Once given the green light to proceed, the treatment will see the client’s targeted area cleaned and marked with 1cm grid guide, numbed with anaesthetic, then the fat dissolving injections performed all within the safe zone across the grid markings. The injection proportion of the procedure takes approximately ten minutes.

A local inflammatory response will occur in the submental region. A cold press is applied for ten minutes immediately following the injections to reduce and minimise swelling and redness.
