Collagen regeneration therapy to help address fine lines, acne scaring and large pores.

Encourage the collagen production responsible for a clear, youthful complexion

Micro-needling is a type of skin needling therapy that involves tiny needles penetrating the skin to create small wounds that stimulates your natural healing process. This encourages collagen production and skin regeneration to help address fine lines, age spots acne scarring.

You’ll notice skin tightening and toning effects within days of the first treatment. More pronounced results can take up to eight weeks, following your skin’s own healing process.

What is micro-needling?

Micro-needling is a more effective form of skin needling where a pen handpiece containing dozens of tiny needles is passed over the skin. The movement of the needles is directly up and down like a sewing machine, creating thousands of microscopic, shallow lesions. During the healing process, your body generates more collagen and elastin, making way for new, smooth and brighter skin.

While you can expect some discomfort during the procedure, it is minimised by the numbing cream applied prior to starting the treatment.  The most commonly reported side effects are skin irritation and redness which usually resolves a few days after treatment.

For optimum results, especially to address specific concerns like acne scarring, we recommend three treatments around one month apart, then one session two to three times per year to maintain your new glowing skin.

There are a few steps you can take before you treatment to ensure it’s as effective as possible, with minimum side effects. You should not be wearing any make up or fake tan, and notify your therapist if you have an active cold sore.
Prepare your skin with  appropriate skin care, for example retinols, vitamin C and sunscreen – we’ll let you know a recommended routine to follow that works for you.
We also recommend not taking chinese herbs, fish oil or green tea tablets within one week before treatment as these will increase your chances of bruising.

Micro-needling boosts collagen production, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What to expect

It all starts with a personal consultation, where we’ll assess your skin, your goals and desires and your medical history.

If the procedure is right for you, we then apply a topical numbing cream which takes anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes to take effect.  Then you’re ready for the procedure itself which typically takes 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area.

There may be some bruising, with small lumps over the surface of your skin where the microsopic needles have penetrated and is a sign your skin is starting the healing process. You can resume your recommended skin care regime post needling.

The beauty of this procedure is that you can expect both short and long term results.  After two days skin feels smoother and fresh.  However, the full potential benefits are experienced after between four and six treatments.

However, this is dependent on the goals of your treatment, scar depth, your age and your natural healing response.
