Is Intravenous Therapy right for me?

IV infusions are great for you if you are looking to promote great health from the inside out.

WHAT IS AN IV INFUSION?

An Intravenous Infusion is a therapeutic administration of vitamins and minerals directly to the bloodstream. The direct delivery of IV fluid via vein insertion means that it bypasses the digestive system, allowing for quick, maximum absorption of key vitamins and minerals. IV Vitamin Infusions are the perfect perk-me-up if you are prone to exercise fatigue, stress or lethargy.

HOW IS AN IV INFUSION BETTER THAN LIQUID OR TABLET VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS?

When we take vitamins orally, they travel to the stomach and intestine but unfortunately not all the nutrients get absorbed.  However, when you receive nutrients via an IV drip, all the hydration, vitamins and minerals bypass the digestive system and are delivered directly into your bloodstream, resulting in immediate absorption and use by the body.

HOW IS IV THERAPY ADMINISTERED?

Firstly, our medical practitioners conduct a thorough medical evaluation and order a blood test before any treatment takes place – this is to ensure you’re getting the right infusion or booster for your needs.

Once the initial consultation is complete, you’ll get your blood tested to ensure your selected treatment is safe and tailored to you. In your next appointment, after your results are analysed by our medical practitioners, you will begin your customised treatment via an intravenous line, also known as a drip, usually inserted into the arm.

All our IV Nutrition therapies are administered by one of our registered doctors or nurses.

Depending on the type of treatment, the procedure will take between 20-60 minutes.

During the treatment, your only job is to sit back and relax.

IS IV TREATMENT SAFE?

IV Nutrition therapy is a common treatment used all over the world – it is considered very safe. With our expert medical staff administering your infusion or booster in our clean, modern clinic – you’ve never been in safer hands.

ARE THERE NEEDLES INVOLVED?

Yes, nutrition infusion and booster therapy does involve needles, either intravenously into the vein for infusions, or into the muscle for intramuscular booster injections. Both are administered by our medical staff with many years’ experience, with measures in place to reduce or eliminate the sensation of the needle.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?

Everyone’s needs are different, but our doctors will consult with you and make a recommendation as to how often you can get IV treatments based on your health history and individual needs. Our doctors will also tailor any treatment add-ons to help you achieve your specific health goals.

HOW LONG DOES AN IV VITAMIN SESSION TAKE?

Infusions typically take anywhere between 20 minutes and 1 hour.

There is no recovery time with either infusions or boosters – you can go straight back out and resume your daily activities.

CAN I HAVE MORE THAN ONE INFUSION OR BOOSTER AT A TIME?

If you think you require the benefits of more than one treatment at once, we can simply tailor the cocktail to your specific needs, bringing the advantages of multiple vitamins, minerals and hydration in the one treatment.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INFUSION AND A BOOSTER?

Both are therapies that supply hydration, vitamins and minerals directly into your body, bypassing the digestive system so they are fully and immediately absorbed.

Infusions are administered intravenously, meaning a needle and drip is used to transport the nutrients directly into your bloodstream, which takes between 20 and 60 minutes.

Boosters on the other hand are intramuscular injections, administered directly into muscle tissue – great for those on a tight schedule.

WHAT IV THEPAPY BLENDS / IV DRIP COCKTAILS ARE AVAILABLE?

Calcium

Contributes to normal blood clotting, muscle function, neurotransmissions and normal function of digestive enzymes. It is also needed in the maintenance of normal bones and teeth.

Vitamin C

Contributes to the normal function of the immune system, nervous system, blood vessels, gums, skin and teeth. It also helps increase iron absorption and protect cells from oxidative stress.

Vitamin B Complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, B12)

Contributes to the normal functioning of your nervous and immune system, psychological function and red blood cell formation. Also promotes healthy skin, eyes, hair as well as helps to reduce fatigue.

Vitamin D

Promotes the body’s absorption of calcium that is important for the normal development and function of healthy bones and teeth. It also helps to support the immune and respiratory systems as well as support normal muscle and cardiovascular functions.

Magnesium

Is an important mineral that plays a role in enzyme reactions in the body. Its many functions include helping with healthy bone, nerve and muscle function, supporting the immune system and regulating blood pressure.

Zinc

Another vital mineral needed for the healthy management of your immune system, metabolism, cell growth and division, as well as wound healing and your sense of taste and smell.

Glutathione

Is a powerful antioxidant that is made in the body’s cells but its levels may decrease due to poor nutrition, environmental toxins, stress and the ageing process. Glutathione deficiency may lead to oxidative stress and become a precursor to multiple diseases.

NAD+

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a dinucleotide that is found in every cell in our body. It plays a key role in mitochondrial function and has been known to affect how fast we age. The main job of mitochondria is to produce energy, which the cell uses to carry out its function. Some cells such as the muscle nerve cells need a lot more energy so they have a lot more mitochondria. However, as we age, changes within our cells lead to the destruction of mitochondria—paving the way for ageing and disease.

Iron

Essential for healthy red blood cells and being deficient is called anaemia. Iron is also an important component of hemoglobin found in red blood cells, which carries oxygen from your lungs to the body.

HOW LONG DO IV VITAMIN INFUSION RESULTS LAST?

For infusions, results may vary from person to person and depending on the infusion used, but many of our patients feel the effects start during the therapy itself and results can last anywhere between a month to a few years.

For our boosters, results can last from one month to up to year, depending on which you select.

Iron Infusion: for those tired and weak with low iron

The body needs iron to help our muscles store and use oxygen as well as maintain the levels of haemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. If the amount of iron in the body gets too low, you could feel tired, weak and even experience the dreaded ‘brain fog’. Iron infusion therapy replaces iron back into the body to make healthy oxygen-carrying red blood cells and relieve these symptoms.

You can have too much of a good thing, which is where our Hangover Cure infusion steps in to provide a fast-acting defence against fatigue, headaches and nausea. A quick dose of fluids, vitamins and anti-nausea medication will rehydrate and detoxify your body so you can move on with your day.)

Lumea-B complex booster: for overall cell and neurological health

A general feeling of low energy and fatigue could call for an intramuscular booster shot of complex B vitamins. This array of vitamins are essential in maintaining the normal function of your immune and nervous system, psychological function and red blood cell cycle, while also promoting healthy skin, hair and eyes.

Lumea-B12 booster: for healthy brain, blood and cells

Vitamin B12 is not only necessary for healthy brain function, it’s also important for developing and maintaining healthy blood and nerve cells, while having a hand in the production of DNA and RNA. B12 can also help your body use fat and carbohydrates for energy and make new protein, making this infusion a go-to for long-term optimal performance and health.

Lumea-D booster: for when you can’t get enough sunshine

Australia has a surprisingly high rate of vitamin D deficiency – everyone is making a great effort to stay safe in the sun. Since we don’t recommend increasing your intake of unprotected sun exposure, our Lumea-D booster is a wonderful option for those deficient in vitamin D, important for healthy bones and teeth, as well as normal muscle, respiratory, immunity and cardiovascular functions.

Our experienced team abide by the philosophy of ‘natural is best’.
